A Senior Advisor to the Scowcroft Group, Simon Clark provides advice to clients on US technology companies with solutions to global sustainability challenges. A Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress, he leads the National Security and International Policy team on combating white nationalist-inspired terrorism. He chairs Foreign Policy for America, an organization advocating principled American engagement in the world, and is a Visiting Research Fellow at the Center for Security and Policy Studies at the Schar School of George Mason University.
Clark built and led Fidelity’s European venture capital operation before moving to Generation Investment Management, the sustainability focused investing firm, as a Senior Advisor to its growth equity practice. He also served on the Advisory Committee for McKinsey’s New Ventures Group. During his time at Fidelity, Clark served as chairman of the British Venture Capital Association where he represented the UK’s venture and private equity industry to regulators and political leaders, advocating for policies to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation.
Before joining Fidelity, Clark was the Chief Financial Officer of TheStreet.com, where he wrote the original business plan, raising venture and strategic financing, and preparing its IPO in 1999. Clark was the first global Director of Web Services for Reuters where he launched Reuters.com, advised on technology investments and partnerships, and created AlertNet.org (now news.trust.org), a website that links reporters to aid workers in conflict zones.
